Why I Created Company 421: A Note from Hillary

When I dreamed up Company 421, I wasn’t just imagining a venue — I was creating a space where people could feel truly at home. As a wedding planner, I kept running into the same challenge: finding a local venue that felt personal, cozy, and curated without the hassle of actually hosting an event in your house. So, in 2021, we brought that dream to life with Company 421 — a place where intimate gatherings could feel as elevated and intentional as the biggest of celebrations.

Here’s a little peek into the heart behind it all.

A Space That Celebrates Intimacy and Intention

As someone who has spent years in the wedding world, I’ve seen firsthand how meaningful small gatherings can be. There’s something powerful about a wedding or dinner shared with your closest people — the connection, the energy, the way every detail feels personal. I wanted to create a venue that honored that intimacy while still offering all the charm and convenience of a traditional event space.

Designed with Heart

Opening a venue had always been in the back of my mind, but it wasn’t until the stillness of COVID that I finally had the space to bring the vision to life. The extra time allowed me to dream, plan, and design every detail with intention — from the soft lighting to the cozy furniture, from the floor plan to the finishing touches. We built Company 421 to feel like a beautiful extension of your own home — warm, inviting, and effortlessly stylish.

And the best part? Our clients keep coming back. There’s no better affirmation than seeing families return for baby showers, milestone birthdays, and more after celebrating their wedding with us.

Home Vibes, Without the Stress

We’ve all been there: hosting at home sounds amazing… until the reality hits. Cleaning, rearranging furniture, renting chairs, worrying about parking — it can become overwhelming fast. Company 421 solves that. You still get the warmth and familiarity of a home, but without the pressure. Our team handles the logistics so you can focus on the people you’ve invited and the moments you want to create.

Your Small Event Deserves Big Love

One thing we’re really passionate about is proving that small doesn’t mean simple. With fewer guests, you have the opportunity to focus on the details that matter most — a custom meal, personalized touches, an atmosphere that tells your story. Whether it’s a rehearsal dinner for 30 or a wedding for 75, we believe your celebration should still feel full of beauty, intention, and joy.

💬 A Quick Q&A with Hillary

What’s your favorite kind of event to host at Company 421?

Weddings — hands down. There’s something so special about a wedding that’s intimate and centered around your core people. Our couples are incredibly kind, and it’s such an honor to witness their joy as they celebrate in a space we poured our hearts into.

What was your biggest inspiration when designing the space?

We wanted every guest who walks through the doors to feel like they were entering a welcoming, curated home. Every detail — from the furniture to the lighting — was chosen to create that feeling. We’ve had so many clients tell us it just feels right when they walk in, and that’s exactly what we hoped for.

If someone is on the fence about booking a smaller wedding or shower, what would you tell them?

Hosting at home is charming in theory, but it comes with a lot of stress. At Company 421, we take that off your plate — from setting up tables and chairs to helping design the perfect layout. With over nine years of event experience, we’re here to make your planning process smooth and enjoyable.

What’s something most people don’t realize about hosting a small gathering?

Small is still impactful. With a smaller guest list, you can focus on the meaningful details — a beautiful meal, custom place cards, a truly personal experience — without blowing your budget. It’s a chance to make every touchpoint feel intentional.

Do you have a favorite memory from an early event at the space?

We opened our doors just one week before our daughter Peyton was born! It’s so special knowing she’s grown up around the venue — it’s become a part of our family’s story. Both of our kids understand how much this space means to us, and it’s something I’ll always cherish.

What’s your hope for guests when they walk through the doors?

That they feel instantly welcome. Whether you’re a host or a guest, I hope Company 421 feels like a space that invites you in and makes you want to stay awhile.
